I took the bus from El Calafate to El Chalten which is roughly three hours. I was here in mid-May which is off season so many hostels and restaurants are closed. I managed to find this one, a short walk from the main bus station. It is a large, beautiful, well maintained hostel with a amazing dog. It was super cold when I arrived as it was winter but the hostel had a large log fire burning which helped.
This hostel is well situated on the main street, there is really only one main street in this town, it is not a very big town. Most people that come here, come to trek Fitz Roy mountain or to go trekking.
I stayed in four bed dorm with two others. Clean, not particularly big but enough space for luggage. The bathrooms are down the corridor, separate for men and women, clean and plenty of hot water great given how cold it was.
There is a large communal area downstairs and restaurant. There are comfy chairs and computers upstairs for guests. The wifi is good and works in the dorm room.
I enjoyed my stay here, I was here for two nights which is more than enough and perhaps in high season there is more going on in the town. It is reasonably priced, safe and a clean hostel. I would definitely recommend it.
