Ushuaia

Cruz del Sur Hostel

I flew from El Calafate to Ushuaia and took a taxi from the airport to this hostel. This hostel is situated beautifully in the heart of the city with many local amenities nearby. It is run by a friendly and very kind lady who speaks limited English. She has a beautiful dog who is also very friendly. The hostel is very tidy, all shoes are removed and kept at the front to avoid any muddy tracks.

I stayed in a six bed dorm, large enough with individual lockers underneath the beds. The bathrooms are downstairs, separate for men and women, with plenty of hot water and a hair dryer. Bathrooms are cleaned on a regular bases.

There is a large communal room separate from the main hostel but not far. Here there is a television, plenty of comfy chairs and books. The kitchen is small but well equipped and there is fridge space for food guests buy. There is also a television in the dining area.

The breakfast is cereal, toast and fruit, similar to most of Argentina. The wifi connection is good and works in the dorm room. There are also two computers which guests can use.

Loved the atmosphere of the hostel and the energy. Given how cold it was, the heaters were on most of the day. The walls have been signed by previous backpackers and I too signed my name. No complaints about this hostel. The staff are friendly and helpful. Loved my stay and would definitely come again.
