I took the bus from Ciudad Del Este to Asuncion and arrived in the evening. I took a taxi to this hostel although, it is possible to also catch the bus. The hostel is in the heart of the city. It is large and has several dorms.
When I arrived it wasn’t particularly busy. I stayed in a ten bed dorm room with only two others. The room itself could do with some paint work. There is no fan or air-conditioning which made it a little difficult to sleep at night especially with the increasing heat. The bathroom is en-suite and has both cold and hot running water.
There is good wifi and two computers for guests to use for free. There is a large communal area downstairs with plenty of comfy chairs, books and a television. There is also a swimming pool outside but at the time wasn’t in use. There are several garden tables and chairs outside for guests.
There is a fully equipped kitchen for guests to use and a fridge. The fridge was packed when I arrived and whilst the staff say they empty it out, this was questionable. Breakfast is included and similar to other hostels in South America, cereal, toast, tea/coffee and orange juice.
Overall, a safe and good hostel. Nothing to amazing, have stayed in better with more of a vibe and energy. Perhaps because it was off season it wasn’t as busy. That said, I did meet other backpackers who I later travelled with. So no complaints, the hostel is well located and reasonably priced.
