Encarnacion

Colonial Hostel

I got the bus from Asuncion and arrived in Encarnacion in the evening, around seven. The hostel is located ten minutes from the main bus station so a easy walk. It is tucked away amongst other residential houses on a quiet street. It over looks the beach and Posadas, Argentina. The local supermarket is a fifteen minute walk away, Plaza de Arms is twenty minutes or so. There is a cash machine by the bus station but also plenty more in town.

The hostel itself is rather large and is more for families rather than backpackers looking for a party hostel. This suited me fine. I stayed in a six bedroom dorm which was a bit small but there individual lockers and air-conditioning. There is a shared bathroom outside and another one upstairs.

There is a communal space upstairs, a television and a computer for guests to use. There are also plenty of hammocks, a bar and space to camp at the back. The staff are super friendly especially Mark and Leroi, they also both know the town very well.

Breakfast is good, consisting of bread, cereal, juice and fruit. The kitchen is well equipped for all of us that wish to cook. I intended to stay here three nights but ended up staying four months! I loved it that much! It is safe hostel, there are no cameras but the neighbourhood and the hostel itself are safe and monitored by staff.

I recommend this hostel to all backpacker, you will meet some great people, it is clean and good hostel. I have nothing bad to say except you will like it so much that you too will stay longer!
